Skills you put into practice

  • Spatial reasoningVisualize positions, connections and shapes before acting.
  • Logical reasoningDeduce consequences and eliminate incompatible options.
  • Planning and strategyAnticipate moves and preserve useful alternatives.
  • Problem solvingTest hypotheses and adapt the plan when the board changes.

Connect every matching pair with orthogonal, non-crossing paths and fill the entire grid.

These puzzles engage different skills while you play. This does not in itself establish general cognitive improvement or replace professional care.

The challenge

Connect every matching pair with orthogonal, non-crossing paths and fill the entire grid.

How to play

  1. Join each matching number pair with one continuous path that moves only horizontally or vertically.
  2. Paths may not cross, overlap, share cells or pass through another pair's endpoints.
  3. To solve the puzzle, connect every pair and use every cell of the board exactly once.
  4. You can backtrack along a path by dragging to an earlier cell; the later segment is trimmed so you can correct it.

Advanced strategies

  • Resolve endpoints with a single exit before drawing long paths; a locally valid route may trap cells that must still be filled.
  • Start with pairs whose endpoints have the fewest useful exits.
  • Do not seal off an area while another pair still needs to pass through it.
  • Connecting every number is not enough: no cell may remain empty at the end.
  • If a path blocks too many routes, trim it back to the last decision point and try another direction.

History and background

Numberlink belongs to the Japanese family of pair-connection puzzles; Blupoli additionally requires full-board coverage.

Tips and strategies

  • Start with pairs whose endpoints have the fewest useful exits.
  • Do not seal off an area while another pair still needs to pass through it.
  • Connecting every number is not enough: no cell may remain empty at the end.
  • If a path blocks too many routes, trim it back to the last decision point and try another direction.

Frequently asked questions

  • Where should I begin? Resolve endpoints with a single exit before drawing long paths; a locally valid route may trap cells that must still be filled.
  • What makes this game different? You can backtrack along a path by dragging to an earlier cell; the later segment is trimmed so you can correct it.
