The challenge

Locate cities, landmarks, birthplaces and historical events in ten rounds. Guess each spot on the world map and minimize your total distance.

How to play

  1. Each round has exactly ten different questions about cities, monuments, birthplaces and historical events.
  2. Tap the map, or use the arrow keys and Enter, to drop a pin. Zoom or pan to improve your guess.
  3. Confirm to reveal the real location, the distance from your pin in kilometres and your running total. Then go to the next question.
  4. The lowest total distance over ten questions wins. Time does not decide your personal best. Daily rounds are reproducible.
  5. Distances are calculated along the globe. Landmarks use their actual positions; city questions use a representative city location.

Advanced strategies

  • Before placing a marker, identify the continent and narrow down to the country; then use coastlines, mountain ranges and nearby cities to refine the location.
  • Zoom into the country before guessing.
  • Birthplace questions ask where a person was born, not where they worked.
  • After each guess, compare your pink pin to the actual yellow marker.
  • The daily seed is shared by players in the same difficulty, based on Madrid's calendar day.
